Sneak Peek

You know that rocking chair of mine? Ironically, before the news of our latest development in the family, I moved it out of Phoebe's room to make way for the new dollhouse she helped purchase with her birthday money. We entertained the idea of selling it, but decided to keep it around for a bit longer. You know, for Phoebe's sake.

So Xee helped me wedge it through the doorway of our room, and it has been just hangin' out there in the corner for the last couple months. I eyeballed it a couple of times, thinking that it would be just like God to possibly be preparing me for something. And now, here we are. Well, the rocking chair is all ready to go. But am I?

Funny thing. Having the chair in our room, where Phoebe begins her sleep routine snuggling up next to us in our bed...well, now she wants to be rocked every night. Hmmm. Or could it be the impending changes in the air that have rekindled this spark with an old fling? Either way, I don't mind at all. With all the changes that are bound to happen around here, the bond I have with my daughter is not one of them. So I will rock her if she asks. Soon enough, she will likely insist that Big Sister rock her new baby brother or sister to sleep in that chair.

The Bible says that the womb is a secret place. I also believe it to be quite sacred. It is where the mysterious takes place. New life is such a wonder. It is a miracle every time, and as a woman, I know I am highly privileged to be the vessel for this new creation. Here is a peek into that marvelous mystery, the first glimpse of this little, tiny guy or gal.
